Hola from Honduras! I'm finally here!
It was a long day today - five and a half hours in the air, plus travel time to the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport, plus a layover in Miami, plus a swine flu checkpoint, plus immigration, plus trying to find my luggage, plus customs, plus a bus ride to our base hotel. But praise God, it all went without a hitch. Except for the hitch in my giddy-up. It was definitely an ibuprofen kind of day.
God was so faithful today, though - He got me to the airport on time (with the help of Mom and Dad) and I didn't have to travel alone from the start. Through the phenomenon of Facebook many of our team members have been getting to know each other online and Judy and Mike were two of those people. I had chatted with them online prior to today and when I met them in person at my gate in Minneapolis, we instantly connected. A fun couple - they're passionate about Compassion International and the many kids that they sponsor. It was nice to have some familiar faces along the way.
God was so faithful in that when a moment came when that worry from yesterday creeped in (about making my way through Miami International) a phone message from a beloved friend reminded me that I have prayer warriors backing me up. (Thanks, Michelle - I needed to hear your voice!)
And this was the big one - God was so faithful in that he brought together almost forty people today not just in ministry and purpose, but in friendship. I can't wait to get to know these people better and yet I feel like I've known them for years. And I think that's the way it should be. In the body of Christ we are each a part of the whole, we've been adopted into the family as sisters and brothers, blessed by a Daddy God who lavishes His love, His care and His protection on us. God is SO faithful. He is so faithful to go before us wherever we go, and I can tell you that after a day of this kind of travel, I will gladly let Him lead the way.
I'm getting a bit tired, so I'll have to make this short. Tomorrow we go as a group to a local church for Sunday morning services (I can't wait for that) and then we're off for a little sightseeing. Tomorrow night we prepare for our ministry time with the kids at the Compassion International project schools. Thanks for your prayers, and I'll check in tomorrow!
In His service,
Beth Crosby
